Fabulous 19th Century Inlaid Marble Top Cabinet with Ormolu Mounts
About the Item
A fabulous 19th century cabinet of oval form, stunningly hand carved and with lovely patinated timbers comprising of mahogany, kingwood and fruitwood. Ormolu mounted and intricately inlaid with exquisite marquetry panels throughout, depicting scrolling foliate and flowerhead motifs. The moulded Rossa Levante marble top with pierced 3/4 gallery rail raised above three drawers, all with escutcheons with tied ribbon bow detail. The shaped apron below and concave undertier, also with gallery rail and gorgeous marquetry detail to the centre reserve, depicting an arrangement of scrolls, quill and ink bottle. Supported on elegant tapering cabriole leg terminating on finely cast foliate sabot foot.
