French 19th Century Napoleon III Period Exotic Wood Cabinet
About the Item
A stunning French 19th century Napoleon III period ebony, ormolu, marble and exotic wood cabinet. The cabinet is raised by elegant topie shaped feet with fine foliate ormolu bands. The base displays beautiful fitted rectangular burl walnut designs framed in a lovely charm wood fillet. Most decorative circular tapered fluted columns lead up each side and display finely detailed foliate fitted ormolu chandelles and exceptional ormolu capitals. The central door displays stunning intricately inlaid exotic wood of a detailed urn set on a burl walnut background. The door displays an elegant foliate ormolu band with richly chased square rosettes at each corner and opens to reveal two shelves. Flanking the door are additional, masterfully inlaid panels with outstanding floral marquetry also repeated at each side. Above is the original white Carrara marble top fitted within a fine foliate ormolu band.
