Louis XVI Meuble d'Appui Stamped Georges François Alix
About the Item
Elegant and refined Louis XVI meuble d'appui in trellis and diamond marquetry made of violet wood and rosewood in amaranth frames. Opening two doors and a drawer, topped with a blue turquin marble top and endowed with a magnificent ornamentation of very finely chiseled gilt bronze such as a drape mold, gadrooned nets, chutes, clogs, etc.
Built in solid oak.
Stamped ALIX four times on the uprights under the marble top, also once on the lower floor under the door, also engraved ALIX on the reverse of most bronze elements.
This piece of furniture may have been dated 1887.
High quality work with lines and style of rare elegance.
Georges François Alix (1846-1906) Georges-François Alix had his studio in Paris at 46 rue de Charonne, then at 6 bis rue Richard Lenoir from 1878. He participated in the universal exhibitions of 1884, 1885 and 1889, where he won a bronze medal. His production, very close to that of François Linke, was very influenced by the latter, for whom he provided bronzes as well as models of inlay. On his death, he bequeathed his bronze models to the Boulle school.
Perfect condition, completely restored to its original condition by our workshop: cleaning of the bronzes (original gilding), application of a natural varnish with a pad using traditional methods (french polish).
