About the Item
The Mesh series is a new collection of furniture and installation pieces designed by Zhoujie Zhang. Based on mesh, the basic computer graphic language, Zhoujie simulates the dynamic form of water. The design is accomplished by precise metal cutting, manual bending, and polishing. In this series, the static and dynamic condition of the water is calculated by the computer program developed by Zhoujie. The possibility of design outcome is unlimited and unpredictable, just as the inherent nature of the water. “Every single piece is bent manually and accomplished by detailed polishing,” Zhoujie explains. The process of metal cutting and manual bending defines the quality as well as the uniqueness of each work. The reflection of light and shadow in different environment and different angles further adds to the unpredictableness of each design.
