Regency Glazed Display Cabinet, Early 19th Century, circa 1820

About the Item

This is an antique, Regency display cabinet in mahogany circa 1820. Rare, bespoke and of fine quality, this cabinet is raised on the most fabulous cabriole legs to the front; The heavily carved knees display scroll and foliate detail and sweep down to hairy paw lion's feet. The feet are repeated in relief detail on the shaped rear legs that are set in allowing the cabinet to rest against the wall beyond any skirting. Framed by upper and lower moulding, the cross-banded, serpentine apron displays good grain detail and is balanced by the crossbanding in the lower pediment which supports the generous crown moulding. The canted, glazed cabinet has a large central door dressed with a ceramic pull, the upper corners feature carved scrolled, foliate swags. Inside the single shelf divides the interior space in two with a serpentine front edge. The painted rear panel reflecting light in this bright and airy display cabinet. Consistent colour with good grain detail and patina, this cabinet has solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
