18th C. French Louis XV Serpentine Commode

A French Louis XV raised two-drawer commode, with its original hardware, from the early 19th century. This antique wooden chest from France features a subtly curved serpentine top and front facade, and case which houses two drawers, a nicely carved and scalloped skirt about three sides, and raised upon four slender cabriole legs. Inlay details embellish the drawer fronts and sides, and at front center skirt swag in a shield motif. Good 18th C French fruitwood serpentine commode. Lovely pale timber. 1780. Dimensions 52.5 inches (133 cms) wide 26 inches (66 cms) deep 36 inches (91 cms) high.
