Rococo Period Serpentine Carved-Wood Chest of Drawers, 18th Century, France

About the Item

A French period rococo serpentine chest of drawers from the 18th century. This antique commode from France features a rectangular shaped top, with softly-rounded corners and serpentine front lines, which mimic the movement of the case beneath. The cabinet houses two smaller drawers at top, over a pair of full-sized drawers beneath, each carved with the fluid shape of the serpentine design and fitted with its original rococo hardware pulls and escutcheon at center. Front side posts are rounded and carved with elongated, recessed panels. The piece has had a newer French polish to further enhance the beauty of the wood. Please note that there have been prior repairs to back feet. This 18th century French Rococo commode, with its shapely serpentine lines, will most certainly make an attractive storage and display piece for your home.
