18th C. George III Coromandel Lacquer Commode, Sourced by Albert Hadley

About the Item

George III Coromandel Lacquer Commode with Later Top & Later Handles. Sourced by repute by Albert Hadley from Mallet. A handsome English commode from the Late 18th Century made in Coromandel lacquer technique. In the Coromandel lacquer technique a layer, several millimeters thick, of chalk mixed with clay is applied to wooden panels, then covered again with a thin layer of black lacquer.
