19th Century French Mahogany Commode
About the Item
19th century commode from France made from Mahogany. The top is made from exquisitely grained dark gray marble, sitting atop a mahogany case, which is fairly unusual in this type of piece. The sides are simple and have the shaped molding at the top and a banded base. In the front of the case, the top shaped molding includes a hidden drawer. This is over a set of three visible drawers, all with wonderful graining, and the banded molding at the base includes an additional hidden drawer. This is very unusual as well, as normally, the only additional hidden drawer is in the top molding of the chest. The case is supported on simple feet in the back for easy placement against a wall, and shaped feet in the front for added design interest.
