American Sheraton Chest of Drawers in Mahogany, New York, circa 1815

About the Item

A lovely American Sheraton chest of drawers in mahogany from New York, circa 1815. Veneer work on second drawer is reminiscent of the work of Michael Allison. Chest features an original gallery in solid mahogany with two small drawers over four drawers in staggered heights. Flat pilasters are fluted terminating in a turned foot. Inlay and veneer work on the large drawer shows a high level of competency and workmanship. Key plates are original in ebonized wood. Drawer locks are complete and original. There is no key. Brass plates and pulls are embellised with acanthus foliage surrounding a cartouche and appear to be original (plates are antique but could have been added at a later date). Overall a fine and original period piece that has been restored and French-polished in our workshop. Note: You should always request a shipping quote.
