Chest of drawers
Reminding the atmosphere of the beginning of the Eighteen century, this chest of drawers is refined by the flower shaped handles of the drawers as well as the top and the sides which are decorated with brass flowers and sequins.
The strong red colour of the front side is intensified by the brass frames and small golden flowers. The use of brass and studs as details, the fiberglass as trait d’union between fabric and metal as well as the hand-crafted aspect is underlined by the use of nails hammered down one by one.
The decoration on lateral sides is made with a big delicate Dalia flower over a champagne colored Rubelli fabric, to create a beautiful contrast with the fron of the chest.
Each drawer has a brass handle shaped as a flower, the design of the piece is completed by the exquisite detail of the curved legs covered in golden brass.
As usual a layer of fiberglass is applied and fixed by hand with upholstery nails and studs, to enhance and protect the refined decoration. Each stud and nail on this piece of furniture is patiently hammered down by hand, one by one.

VALENTINA GIOVANDO is an Italian artist, lives and works in the small cozy town of Sarzana, Liguria, and for over 20 years has dedicated herself to the production of a new style, personal and full of splendour, declined in the interior decoration through a range of high-craft artistic products. Pieces of furniture, furnishing accessories, chandeliers and lamps, but above all suggestions, atmospheres, craftsmanship and Italian refinement. Behind each creation by Valentina Giovando there is a unique world, a lifestyle, a research that goes through the history of design, interior decoration, fashion and the history of art and literature; a research that translates into furniture, chandeliers and design works. The influences are a lot: a sophisticated Parisian interior from the 1700s, the sinuous figures of an art nouveau window, the refined stage clothes of an actress of the 1800s, a medieval or samurai suit. Precious fabrics combined with metal sheet, fiberglass, brass, iron, crystals and sequins. Everything is shaped, overlapped and nailed down to create unique and original motives and effects. Every single chain, every flower, every decorative motive is entirely hand-crafted and hand-assembled. A top quality craftsmanship as in the best “made in Italy” tradition.
