French 19th Century Empire Neoclassical Mahogany Commode Chest of Drawers

About the Item

Impressive Empire mahogany commode hand crafted in 19th century France; four drawers and neoclassical details comprise this outstanding chest of drawers. This case piece has patinated wonderfully over the decades. Iconic of the Empire style, two ebony black round columns flank the bank of dovetailed drawers. The whole stands on sturdy round turned feet and is covered with richly colored and beautiful bookmatched burled walnut veneer. The frieze houses a secret hidden drawer without hardware; it opens easily with grooves hidden on the underside of the drawer. Three lower drawers each feature a pair of highly decorative cast brass pulls with simple brass inset keyholes. Will add elegance to any room in the house! #6091
