An Important pair of George III Serpentine Commodes

About the Item

England, circa 1790 A fine pair of late eighteenth century mahogany serpentine commodes, the tops with satinwood crossbanding, each with a central oval medallion of fine mahogany flame veneer. With graduated drawers, two short drawers above two deep drawers, possibly for storing top hats, retaining the original fire gilded handles, each with finely chased paterae, all supported above exaggerated bracket feet.
