Jumbo Collection Antique Italian Ormolu-Mounted and Lacquered Cabinet
About the Item
An important and richly decorated Italian ormolu-mounted and lacquered cabinet, ca. 1930.
The cabinet structural frame is in hardwood, darkened by painting. The bombé case has its surface lacquered, taking inspiration from Japanese subjects, with oriental-like scenes painted in gold - with polychrome details - over a brownish-red background. The external areas are dark brown, with a minimal purple hue.
The central panel of the front is surrounded by rich ormolu mountings, centered at the top by a mask and the bottom by a floral basket; the sides have conforming lacquer painted decoration with scrolled ormolu borders and angles with foliate corners and sabots. One of the ormolu details on the border of the floral basket, carries the signature of the Rigolas, the most important Lombard bronze makers of the period.
Internally, oak and cherry woods have been used, in a modern, Déco style layout.
The top is a rich grey and pink brèche marble.
The cabinet is in very good condition.
This cabinet is antique and genuine, probably a masterpiece, which stands among the best Italian and International production of neo-Rococo of the twentieth century.
