Pair of Italian 19th Century Louis XV St. Kingwood, Ormolu and Marble Commodes
About the Item
A beautiful pair of Italian 19th century Louis XV st. Kingwood, ormolu and Sienna marble Genovese commodes. Each two drawer chest is raised by elegantly curved legs with fine richly chased pierced foliate ormolu sabots. The chest displays an outstanding and most decorative curvaceous shape with exceptional quarter veneered Kingwood designs extending throughout showcasing the wonderful wood grain. Above the arbalest shaped frieze are the two drawers each decorated with stunning masterfully inlaid interlocking foliate designs framed within geometric fillets and centered by a delicate foliate ormolu keyhole escutcheon. The sides are decorated in a similar manner with the same most decorative patterns all below the original Sienna marble tops with a fine mottled border.
