Pair of Italian Bedside Table Nightstands in Bamboo, Rattan and Cane, 1960s
About the Item
a set of two bedside tables handmade in Italy between the 50s and 60s using natural fibers such as bamboo, rattan and thin cane for a perfect and chic Riviera style of the time.
Made with great care and skill by Italian craftsmen, these mid century nightstands have rounded tops thanks to the curvature of the bamboo and instead of wooden or plywood tops, they have thin rods of cane fixed one by one close together to form the support surface.
and what about the design of the front legs?
those waves made with bamboo give movement as well as becoming a decorative element like the curls of the back.
most often attributed to the production of the historic Italian company Bonacina, these bedside tables are in original vintage condition, with their nails and staples but above all with a splendid patina of the time.
