Semi Antique Figured Wood Secretary Chest On Chest for Restoration

About the Item

The classic lines with a cornice on top and canted corners with ribbed supports. The upper chest with three over three graduated dove-tail constructed drawers. The middle and lower drawers with compartments. The lower case with a fall front secretary with a green tooled leather writing surface, drawers and compartments with doors over two long drawers. All with brass bat wing bales. Raised on bracket feet. Lacking a key. H. 75", W. 41", Depth 21 1/2" Condition: Restoration recommended, Please see the photos for details of the condition.There are veneer, finish and wood losses including trim sections and wear to the leather. The top chest with mark on the first long drawer, top right drawer front with replaced bottom corner, middle long drawer with vertical stable age crack, stable age cracks on the right side, lower chest with stable age cracks to the secretary drop and wear inside, loss to the center right corner molding, and loss to the back left corner molding.

    A very fine and complex well-crafted drop leaf table with rectangular top inlaid overall in fine scrolled marquetry details. The top panel with scrolling vines emanating from two vessels, framed by a scrolling vine wide band. Each rounded leaf with coordinating center panels and bands. The two frieze drawers with foliate scrolls framing the brass key holes (one lock is missing).
