STELE Bedside Table
About the Item
A bedside table with hand-carved textured doors.
This piece is made in solid English oak. The oak is darkened using the traditional process of fuming, where the timber is exposed to ammonia to react with naturally occurring tannins. This results in a beautiful, rich chestnut brown colour that varies organically with the deposits of tannins in the oak.
The doors and drawer fronts are carved by hand to create a seamless, textural, and organic front. The texture results in light play across different times of the day and invites the hand to explore the tactile carving.
By removing any unnecessary detailing, joinery, and shaping, the blocky and perpendicular form serves primarily to frame the sculptural doors and celebrate the natural beauty of the fumed English oak.
This piece is available in any dimensions and with any combination of doors and drawers. The piece is available with a variety of pulls: featured here are flat profile bronze finger pulls.
