A very good quality mid 18th century chippendale period Georgian Mahogany chest, having well figured top over slide and four long drawers, retaining original brass swan neck handles, raised on elegant original shaped bracket feet. Whilst a relatively commonly found design and form for a Georgian Chest of this period, this particualr chest boasts some exceptional features which set it apart from many. These include the exceptional quality of construction, the use of the well figured, rich mahogany timbers and the practical dimensions. The colour and patina throughout remain excellent and overall it is in good condition with very little restoration, or damage of consequence to speak of. The retention of its original brass handles and its original bracket feet is another indicator of how well loved and cherished this item has been throughout the years of its life. A splendid Chippendale serpentine mahogany commode in its original dark finish with molded edge top surmounting a conforming case with a writing slide over three graduated drawers, each featuring bold brass pulls and decorative escutcheons, and canted reeded corners, all supported by carved bracket feet.
