- Louis XV Period Marquetry Stamped Commode with Rouge Royale Marble TopBy Sebastien ViéLocated in Pembroke, MAVery high quality French, Louis XV period commode (sauteuse) stamped by the Ebeniste, "Sebastian Vie" (master, October 5, 1767), and the guild, JME ("Jurande des Menuisiers et Ebenistes", or Guild of Joiners and Cabinetmakers). The commode has been beautifully restored in France with a French polish finish over marquetry of bois de rose (tulipwood) and bois de Violette (kingwood), with light string inlay framing the drawer and side panels. Ornate gilt-bronze mounts in the rococo manner, including lavish key plates. Nicely-variegated burgundy and white (known as "rouge rance") marble top. The interiors of all three drawers are lined in an embroidered silk fabric.Category
