George III Mahogany Serpentine Chest Drawers Commode atrb to Gillows 18thCentury

An exceptional George lll late 18th century feathered mahogany Gentleman’s dressing chest of serpentine outline.
Firmly attributed to Gillows of Lancaster, circa 1780.
The serpentine plain top above four long graduated drawers, the top drawer fitted with eight lidded compartments, a pull-out tray, a divided hair comb compartment, a double sided green baise lined hinged writing surface and a central dressing looking glass, with a pen and ink drawer. Two crystal and silver ink containers are associated.
Finally this exceptional piece is supported by slender bracket splayed feet.
Condition: Superb condition for such an early piece, professionally re-finished, retaining its original polished brass handles.
Measures: Height 34.75” (88cm), width 39.5" (100.5cm), depth: 23” (58.5cm).
Location: Dublin City, Ireland.
Gillows of Lancaster: Founded by Robert Gillow (1704-1772) were probably the most celebrated of all English and Irish Furniture Makers. They were established in the early 18th Century making fine furniture which was extremely desirable and very sought after.
