Rare S&H Jewell Stamped Victorian Hardwood Military Campaign Chest of Drawers

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare S&H Jewell stamped Victorian Mahogany & Brass Military Campaign chest of drawers A very good looking well made and function chest of drawers by one of the great English Furniture makers of the Regency to late Victorian Era. The drawers have the original plaque which reads “S&H Jewell 26 parker Street London WC2 These are of course military officers drawers, made for campaign use, they are rare to find as one solid piece, the timber is gorgeous rich mahogany, the handles are solid brass, these are everything you could want in a functional antique piece of furniture We have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom, they will have normal patina marks from honest age and genuine use Dimensions: Height 92cm Width 98cm Depth 49.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. S and H Jewell were fine quality cabinet makers who were established in 1830. They were a family business who worked from their premises at 29-31 Little Queen Street, Holborn, in London and then later to Parker Street, LONDON. W.C.2. They are recorded to have sold furniture to the Arts and Crafts home, Standen House, East Grinstead, Sussex and stated on the receipt dated 1st May 1894, states the company was founded in 1830 but there are not many records of their earlier pieces. They also restored early pieces of antique and re sold them in their London shop. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
