19th Century French Oak Corner Buffet
About the Item
Elegant and serene, this antique oak corner buffet offers a one-of-a-kind period piece. Hand-made in France in the 1800s, this cabinet was designed to fit neatly into the corner of a room; the curved swell of the cupboard counterbalances the sharp angle of the reverse side. Curved pieces such as these were extremely challenging to make in the 19th Century; this buffet would have been highly prized. An elegant contoured crest crowns the composition, while paneled moldings frame the doors — every detail is beautifully crafted. The surface of the oak has been lovingly restored to reveal the soft blush tones of the natural wood, accentuating the inherent grace of the form.
