Burl Walnut 4-Door Corner Cabinet from Holland, circa 1830

About the Item

From the Dutch region known as Holland, this beautiful four-door corner cabinet was hand carved using luxurious burl walnut circa 1830. The lovely veneer has hues of gold, light gray, orange, and tan laced with swirling brown grains that are the product of distress to the walnut tree (presented as a burl). Designed to be displayed in a corner, the stately cabinet has a highly shaped crown known as a double heart cornice. Its shape is mirrored by a pair of asymmetrical doors with thin molding below. The doors swing open to reveal a burgundy painted interior with two highly shaped shelves. Similarly, the lower section has one linear shelf and a burgundy interior behind two rectangular doors. The two sections are separated by a thick molding with a cavetto undercut. A pair of ogee bracket feet join seamlessly with the shallow apron that features an arbalete-like center noix. Our burl walnut corner cabinet from the Netherlands is a tremendous example of 19th century Furniture that can be placed in the corner of any room that requires a storage piece.
