About the Item
Exquisitely crafted vintage 1970s Danish teak credenza by Dyrlund. This is the perfect media center. The large cabinet spaces provide amble room for 12 inch LP records and components. Mount your flat screen above or place on the top with a stand. The credenza features sleek, handleless cabinet doors with vertical bands of decorative teak. The contrasting grains and tones coalesce to add flare on an otherwise disciplined, minimalist form. The right side cabinet door conceals two pull-out drawers with green felt lining. The left side has an open space with an adjustable / removable shelf.
Excellent overall restored condition. Top and right side panel have been professionally refinished by our in-house cabinet shop. Detailed top to bottom, inside and out. Only very minor imperfections remain.
About Dyrlund:
Precious woods and hand finishing. At Dyrlund they place great emphasis on skilled craftsmanship and experienced employees, who work in the old craftsmanship style. “Many of our products are made with precious woods and require expert hand finishing, so we have to be sure we have the right man for the job. Skilled cabinetmakers are the most valuable asset in our company.” explains Mr. Jørgensen. He is deeply involved in the design and production of all the series. “Our designs grow out of the workshop as prototypes, we work directly with the raw material, which gives you a real feel for the possibilities and lets you get straight to the business of making a functional piece of furniture. “Not surprisingly, Jørgensen is just as likely to be found in the factory working on details of a cabinet corner as in his offices, meeting with an important client.
Using only traditional Danish cabinet-making methods from start to finish is Dyrlund’s policy. “We are especially proud of the oil finishes we use on our home furniture” says Jørgensen. Besides the beautiful appearance it gives the wood, the finish is also practical. Minor surface repairs, such as small scratches, can easily be repaired by the owner instead of having to call in an expert or taking the furniture to a workshop. All our furniture is manufactured at our own factory in Denmark.

Working with ash, beech, oak and teak, Dyrlund’s furniture makers employ quality oil finishes by hand to protect and bring out the deep richness of the wood. The company outfits its sideboards and cupboards with sturdy, solid-wood oval handles — another signature that is likely familiar to enthusiasts of the manufacturer.
Established in 1960, the company set out to create long-lasting furniture that would remain beautiful and reliable throughout its life. Over the years, the brand's focus has mainly been on the manufacture of office furnishings. Dyrlund credenzas, desks and office cabinets — as well as living room items like sofas and coffee tables — are the most well-known pieces. However, Dyrlund occasionally produces limited runs of bedroom furniture, such as beds and nightstands.
Dyrlund boasts a clientele that includes celebrities, royalty and heads of state. One client the company is particularly proud of is Mikhail Gorbachev. The late Russian and Soviet politician posed for a photo standing in front of a Dyrlund desk.
The company still operates out of Copenhagen, headed by director Bent Møller Jørgensen, who is just as often seen on the shop floor going over details with cabinetmakers as he is in his office speaking to clients. Dyrlund’s commitment to quality and Danish modern forms hasn't wavered and is sure to continue into the future.
