Decorate your kitchen with a piece of history and culture. Importance and origin of Piedmontese style furniture The Enlightenment brings with it important cultural innovations and among these also a reinterpretation of the furniture as known until then and brings the furniture to be more elegant, but also more functional. It is France with its royal court and with the emergence of a new bourgeoisie that becomes the first nation to implement these innovations, then influencing the main European courts. This is how the creation of new styles of chest of drawers, trumeau, console, corner furniture, mirrors and desks makes the furniture as a whole lighter and more elegant. In Italy there are production centers and workshops with expert craftsmen who fully interpret its style and elegance; one of the best Turin interpreters is Pietro Piffetti, who with his refined furniture becomes famous in the Italian and European courts. The Piedmontese furniture thus began to differentiate itself from the furniture made in the remaining parts of Italy for the elegance and sobriety that were in contrast, for example, with the whimsy of Venetian furniture. It should be emphasized that the quality of Piedmontese furniture has ancient roots since the times of the "minusieri". The term minusiere, of French origin, has always, in Piedmont, been synonymous with fine carpenter, different from the master carpenter, who dealt with craftsmanship in the wholesalers. There are many similarities between France and Piedmont, also derived from geographical proximity, where we can see that the terms and refined artisan techniques are often similar if not the same. The tradition of fine carpentry in Piedmont has ancient roots, the University of Minusieri of Turin was born in 1636; but we know that it is a symbolic date as the schools of professional regulation already existed in previous centuries. Still among the wood artisans, we find cabinetmakers, specialists in the processing of inlaid furniture in ebony and other types of fine wood. These artisans, from 1600 to 1800 in Piedmont, expressed the highest measure of their creativity, indeed, they are centuries for which we can more properly speak of Piedmontese style furniture.
