French Provincial Walnut Buffet À Deux Corps, Early 19th Century

About the Item

A large and very handsome buffet à deux corps, traditional French two part cupboard. The cabinet below is fitted with one sturdy shelf while the multi-compartmented top portion is fitted for adjustable shelving. The interior of the upper case has two shelves, the lower case has one. Stylish upholstered sides with tacks in diamond patterns enhance the interior of the upper cabinet. Beautifully proportioned throughout, the cabinet doors are each deeply carved with interestingly shaped moulded panels while the bottom skirt across the front is carved with subtle Neoclassical triglyphs, guttae and a rosette. Early 19th century. Good antique condition, with waxed surface, distress, worming and signs of age: separations, some small losses and restorations, indentation marks. H: 94 ½ W: 60 ¼ D: 24 ¼
