Painted 18th Century Cupboard
About the Item
Painted two door cupboard with cove cornice across the front; sides and front painted with stylized floral panels surrounded by diagonal stripes of alternating red and brown on an antique gold color background, top and bottom interiors with shelf. The top door locks shut with unusual mechanism- the vertical molding slides from right to left allowing a wood flange the hold the door shut (see photos); the bottom door has the original steel lock ( no key) , doors with wrought iron hinges , each has minor vertical shrinkage separations. The cupboard is dated in the frieze " ANNO 1774''.
