Scandinavian Cabinet, Shingles, Pine Wood, limestone Top, wooden top

About the Item

Spåna S80-G Cleaved shingles of pine is a traditional technique for roofing. Especially selected logs are split into four parts, cleaved into 6mm thin shavings and then placed so that they overlap each other and thereby draining the water from the roof. The cleaving of the wood creates an irregular and tactile surface that bounces light in different directions giving life to the overall surface. Apart from the stunning surface the shingles create on the cabinet, using shingles is a way to draw attention to the material in the hope that the traditional craftsmanship can survive on anything other than old churches. The Spåna cabinet is made with selected shingles from Helsingland mounted on a pine veneéred mdf structure framed with solid pine. The cabinet top is made of solid pine or a Norrvange lime stone top from Slite Stenhuggeri (Gotland) for the grey coloured alternative. The black cabinets can also get a stone top of black granite as an option. The cabinets come in three standard colours and three standard sizes. The spåna cabinet can be ordered in custom sizes and finishes.
