1960’s Mid Century to Scandinavian Modern Teak Writing Desk w Shelf & Round Legs
About the Item
Handsome vintage mid-century modern or Scandinavian Modern teak writing desk with raised back shelf, 2 drawers, and straight round legs, made in Bangkok. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, it has been completely refinished and given a fresh coat teak oil and Danish oil. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960’s.
NOTE: If you prefer the durability of a polyurethane finish rather than just the Danish oil and would like a coat of polly to be added to the top surface, we can do that for you prior to shipping. Let us know.
What a DELIGHTFUL desk!!! This is an exquisite writing desk and is comprised of teak with a fresh teak and Danish oil finish, curved sides holding a raised back shelf over the work surface, two spacious drawers under the work surface with recessed finger pulls, and fabulous straight round legs featuring wonderful knuckle details where the stretcher receives the legs. It’s a simple but quite stunning detail!! So, a fun story regarding this unique and likely one-of-a-kind piece… We spoke directly to the intriguing family that owned this beauty upon our obtaining it and they used to live in Bangkok, Thailand back in the 1960’s. He told us that his father had this writing desk and a few other pieces custom made while they lived there! It lived an incredible life with them, made a long journey to America, and now it is ready for new adventures with you and your wonderful family!! The woodgrain on the desk work surface is phenomenal and with an additional shelf and two drawers there’s plenty of space for your laptop, monitors, paperwork, and even a fabulous table lamp. Perfect in your study or den for smaller office supplies and stationery; keys, calling cards, and change; or as a catch-all in your entry! Have a newly appointed home office?
