Midcentury Italian Writing Desk with Drawers and Chair, in Bamboo Cane & Wicker
About the Item
A Splendid Italian Writing Desk made in Italy between the 1960s and the 1970s
The top and drawers of this vintage writing desk are made of plywood covered with a dense weave of woven wicker.
the frame of the desk top blocks a glass top that protects the wicker weave and is more convenient for writing or putting things down.
The base is made of curved bamboo canes knotted from rattan, which create arches as in an architectural structure.
The color and beautiful patina of this desk has been protected by a mix of natural oils.
It is in its original condition with the exception of the upholstery of the chair which has been replaced with a raw linen blend cotton.
While the style of the seat is in full Chinese chippendale style, the desk has a more essential and informal style compared to the canonical colonial furniture.
This desk communicates lightness, with the use of natural fibers without lacquering, as in the raw bamboo knobs;
Spontaneity and the beauty of imperfection with the handmade wicker and rattan weaves but above all
the elegance given by essentiality.
