Unique Sculptural Secretary Desk in Maple 1990s.
This is a rare and very unique postmodern secretary desk with a sculptural design, made by a artisan craftsman somewhere in the 1990s.
Great shapes and lines, making it a bit of a surrealist design in general - the concave and round shapes sometimes leave you in a whirl about how this desk is constructed. Both sides have a strong concave shape and the lid has a beautiful rounded design as well. Very high end execution with the use of quality veneer and strong attention to detail. Just look at the little brass knobs on the top which hold the lid when opened, or the colorful interior of the secretary desk with drawers and storage spaces. Also the underside of the desk is completely veneered - a hint of true quality and attention to detail.
Next to being a true postmodern art piece, this desk is also a very usable practical piece of furniture - with a lot of storage space and the possibility to create a large working area by pulling out the drawer and work top. Both open and closed a very beautiful piece of furniture. A gem!
Comes in a very good vintage condition with only slight traces of age and use.
