$7,358 Sale Price20% Off - Georgian 18th Century Potboard Dresser BaseLocated in Bedfordshire, GBAn Attractive And Very Good Quality Late 18th Century, George III Period, Oak Dresser Base Of Good Colour And Patina Throughout, Having Three Frieze Drawers With Replacement Knobs, Over Elegant Turned Upright Supports With Original Potboard Shelf And Rare Panelled Back Below. As suggested by the name the original purpose of a potboard shelf was to store all manner of pots and pans. These pots and pans were often still wet, very heavy, or possibly still hot when placed back onto the storage shelf and this is the reason that we regularly find potboard shelves damaged beyond repair, or in rather ugly condition visually. No such problem with this particular piece however, it has a perfectly functioning and attractive potboard shelf which has an extremely rare panelled back to it, something we have only seen once or twice before. This dresser base is a good size, not overpoweringly large, whilst at the same time being perfect for a wide ranging variety of spaces around the home, due to its narrow proportions amongst other things. It is also of coursevery attractive and retains a good colour and patina which is a consequence of years and years of hard graft...Category
