Line Dresser, Design Icon, Sculptural Chest of Drawers, Opalescent Handles

With a light and sophisticated style, the Israeli designer/artist Hagit Pincovici conceives a sleek-looking and oneiric chest of drawers evoking nomadic objects along the silk road. A chest of six drawers in lacquered wood, with corners cut 45°, to give a perfect line to the straight borders. The chest body in dark gray color host six drawers in hell grey lacquer. It is fixed on an oak basement with four iconic legs. A metal frame hidden in the wood make it very strong and stabile, despite the thin looking legs. Each piece is numbered and bears the signature of the artist. The handles, in the manner of a wrapping, give the illusion of binding the drawers in seemingly random overlap, and are made of a particular material subjected to a novel treatment that gives them the quality of the opalescent glass paste and the intense yet subtle appeal of once famous spiced alchermes liqueur.

About The Maker

Colé Italia

View Profile
“We love objects which own deep roots, excellent quality, and a strong evocative power”. Colé is a young Italian design brand, with a high-end production 100% made in Italy. Born from the experience of Matteo De Ponti, architect, who grew up in a historic Milanese design family, and the artistic sensibility of Laura Macagno, degree in Economics and passionate of art and design. Our mission is to create design icons, suitable for furnishing the homes of sophisticated and international clients. Our expressive research is inspired by the Scandinavian design, the Bauhaus, the Italian architects of the '50s as well as ethnic handcraft, houses of famous writers of the XX century, suspended between present, past and future; the artists who wrote the code of modernity, as Mondrian, Sonia Delaunay, Moholy Nagy, Brancusi and the graphic genius of Escher. We love trips to far lands, starting from Argentina, Laura's birthplace, where our dream started. From there comes the name Colé, tied to a common memory: an element of color which makes us smile just thinking about it.
