Teak Danish Cabinet with mirror, Dressing Table
About the Item
Secrétaire with a concealed dressing mirror manufactured by Øm (Ølholm Møbelfabrik) Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s. The back features a stamped logo. The piece exhibits quality materials and manufacturing techniques. It falls under Danish design, possesses a retro and vintage aesthetic, and complements modern interiors. Its compact size makes it ideal for an entrance or children's room. The legs are beautifully shaped with cut edges.
Story about the factory: Ølholm is a small village 20 km west of Horsens. It was home to two furniture factories owned by the same family.
One was Ølholm Møbelfabrik, founded in 1896 by Niels Omann. In 1951, it was managed by his son Sigfred. The other factory, Omann Jun, was overseen by his brother Andreas. Lacquering and assembly took place separately at two different locations, but the two factories collaborated and, for a time, shared a machine carpentry.
Ølholm Møbelfabrik closed its doors in 1971, while Omann Jun relocated to Horsens and still exists under the name Omann Aps.
