Old French Pine 15 Wine Bottle Storage Cabinet with "Saint-Emilion" Decor

About the Item

This interesting wooden wine or champagne bottle holder was carved in France, circa 1920. The useful antique cabinet, made with old pine timber, has fifteen inside slots for wine or champagne bottles and has a hinged top for convenience. The piece is also decorated with the wine region "Saint-Emilion" printed on the front, which give the vintage piece an air of authenticity. This bar accessory is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina, and would make a nice addition to a wet bar or wine cellar! Saint-Émilion is one of the principal red wine areas of Bordeaux along with the Médoc, Graves and Pomerol. The region is much smaller than the Médoc and adjoins Pomerol. As in Pomerol and the other appellations on the right bank of the Gironde, the primary grape varieties used are the Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with relatively small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon also being used by some châteaux. Saint Émilion wines were not included in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. The first formal classification in Saint-Émilion was made in 1955. Unlike the 1855 classification, it is regularly revised. Measures: 24" W x 14" D x 14" H.

    Located in Dallas, TX
This narrow, antique wine storage cabinet was crafted in western France using old timber. Built of pine wood, the tall and thin cabinet sits on four small scroll feet under a scalloped apron. The piece features six shelves embellished with decorative carvings and each row holds three bottles, for a total of 18. The wine storage is decorated with the words “Petrus Cave” printed on the front. The cabinet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina; it would make a useful addition to a kitchen or wine cellar without taking up too much room. Château Pétrus is a Bordeaux, France, wine estate located in the Pomerol appellation near its eastern border to Saint-Émilion. A small estate of just 11.4 hectares (28 acres), it produces a red wine entirely from Merlot grapes (since the end of 2010), and produces no second wine. Although the wines of Pomerol have never been classified, Pétrus is widely regarded as the outstanding wine of the appellation. Pétrus leads a duo of Pomerol estates in extreme prices, along with Le Pin, that rank consistently among the world's most expensive wines. Indeed, a 750ml bottle of Pétrus wine...
