About the Item

A fantastic looking, super functional, and rather rare mid-century modern Euro Art walnut freestanding four-bay modular storage system by Fritz of California. Similar in style to both the wall-mounted Omni System by George Nelson and the Royal System by Poul Cadovius for Cado, but with the unique advantage of being freestanding, thus allowing for more flexibility and its use as a floating room divider. Endlessly customizable, it consists of six ebonized upright supports with asymmetrical compass legs, four specialized case pieces, three individual shelves, and three two-shelf open boxes. Can be assembled in one monumental four-bay unit, a pair of two-bay units, a three-bay and single-bay unit, or four single-bay units. Modular cases and shelves mount to the uprights via brass brackets that hang from hand-screwed brass knobs, all of which can be easily reconfigured to suit one’s needs. Case pieces (from left to right): a three-drawer dresser with solid walnut full-front pulls; a spacious two-door cabinet with solid walnut full-front pull and a glass shelf (not shown); a sliding door cabinet with dividers for records/magazines; a lockable secretary or dry bar (key included) with hide-away upper and drop-down lower doors that reveal a crisp white laminate shelf and work surface. Shelves: a pair of shelves with rounded corners; a tilted shelf with lip for book/magazine display; a low rectangular open box; a pair of large rectangular open boxes with pine interiors that originally housed speakers. Case pieces and shelves feature very handsome walnut veneer that’s been gently restored and refinished, though still shows expected light wear, marks, and tonal variations. Some original paperwork is included, with additional photos provided upon request. Measurements: A single bay is approximately W 34 in. from outside edge to outside edge of each upright support. Largest case piece is approximately H 25.5 in. x W 31.5 in. x D 17 in. Smaller case pieces are D 14.5 in.

Condition:
Wear consistent with age and use. Over all shows great for its age, system had a light refinishing. Does have minor stains, very light water marks, minor nicks, minor chips. More photos on request.
