Mid-century Room Divider by Ludvik Volak for Drevopodnik Holesov, 1960s

About the Item

Midcentury Room Divider by Ludvik Volak for Drevopodnik Holesov, 1960s This midcentury room divider is made of Bent-Wood by Ludvik Volak and was manufactured in Czechoslovakia by Drevopodnik Holesov in the 1960s. It was bought from the original owner and is a memorable piece from a villa in Prague. Thanks to its square edges in plywood and geometric patterns, the divider can be used as a wall-mounted shelving unit or a room divider. Designed by Ludvik Volak in the Czech Republic in the 1960s, this divider was manufactured by TON (Thonet) and is in excellent, good original condition with some patina on wood parts. It would be a great addition to any interior, such as a living room, family room, screening room, or office. It is also perfect for use in hospitality or corporate locations like boutique hotel lobbies, cocktail bars, members' clubs, or luxury boutiques. The total size of the divider is W 90 cm x H 226 cm x D 15 cm. Ludvik Volak was the director and chief engineer of Dřevopodnik in Holešov, where he launched a new furniture technology called "wood laminate." This technology represented the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic by producing seating furniture at exhibitions abroad and embassies. Drevopodnik Holesov was a Czech brand established in 1958. Its furniture was often used in public buildings and facilities such as hotels, embassies, theaters, and even the former Federal Assembly. To this day, the brand's works continue to be highly influential among furniture enthusiasts, especially for their laminated woodworkmanship.
