About the Item

Hand forged cabinet with shelves designed with massive steel and glass top. Two Dutch designers, with different backgrounds yet with the same binding techniques, came together to create this Industrial-looking cabinet with shelves. While Tessa Koot normally works with softer binding materials, Ward Wijnant understands steel. Together, they created this cabinet with shelves while imagining that steel can be wrapped like rope. They successfully created this magnificent one-of-a-kind cabinet with shelves by wrapping steel around hollow beams and using glass for shelves for more transparency. This very Industrial cabinet with shelves fits beautifully in a modern and/or Industrial space for either an office or a dining room. The legs of the cabinet with shelves are also made with hand forged steel and are powder-coated. The same beams are also used to support the glass shelves. During his studies at the Wood and Furniture College, Ward Wijnant developed various furniture making techniques and broad material knowledge. However, only making furniture pieces was not enough for him, he missed depth, creativity and the story behind the object. He went on to the Design Academy Eindhoven wherre he learned conceptual thinking and working. Wijnant’s work is characterized by experimenting with materials and searching for their boundaries. The unexpected as a discovery in a product is meaningful for him.
