Swedish Modernist Maple and Inlay Highboard, Circa 1950's

About the Item

This attractive sideboard case piece is a stunning example of the Swedish Modern tradition. It has been attributed to the Swedish manufacturer Bodafors, and was likely designed by the renowned Carl-Akel Acking. Crafted from several different kinds of beautiful wood, the differing wood grains and cuts come together to make a one-of-a-kind cabinet. The front panel is crafted from joined pieces of maple, creating an intricate interlacing of lines. The top panels on the cabinet doors are made with birds eye maple veneer, with the iconic burled pattern and wood knots on full display. At the bottom of the cabinets are further designs with wood inlay, with a geometric lining of tulip wood that extends across each of the cabinet doors. The top and sides of this piece are crafted with beautiful teak wood, showcasing dramatic long clean lines of the wood that extend gracefully down the length of each piece. This cabinet can be locked with (1) Key included. Inside, the shelves can be adjusted to different heights in order to fit one's unique needs for the cabinet. This piece also comes equipped with a few drawers to store smaller objects such as flatware and linen. This is a vintage item and exhibits some signs of wear that are consistent with age and use. The cabinet presents beautifully overall, and is set to withstand many more decades of love and appreciation.
