16th Century Italy Ligurian Carved Oak and Chestnut Credenza Bambocci Sideboard

Valuable ancient noble 16th century, Italy Ligurian carved oak and chestnut credenza Bambocci, sideboard with display cabinet. All original with exception of the cabinet glasses. In excellent condition and wax polished Measure cm: H 224/104 W 150/130 D 44/26 Weight: 95 Kg History and curiosity of this object: Important is the carving done with remarkable skill on all its facades, the grafts of the component parts are made with wooden nails. The particularity of this Renaissance sideboard are the Bambocci: Decorative element in human form (putto, head) carved with a strong relief or all round on the drawers and along the side uprights and edges of coffered, sideboards and other late 16th century containers, of a noble and monumental character. Bambocci often alternate with plant motifs or garlands of flowers or fruit. Particularly important are the puppet furniture of Ligurian, Tuscan and Lombard production. Generally the furniture a Bambocci are Genovese production of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, human figures carved in the round wood, both with decorative function as well as knobs or handles of drawers.
