About the Item
Exotic Japanese French vitrines attributed to Gabriel Viardot. Carved hardwood with Fine brass mounts. Interior with old silk velvet. Great size. France. 19th century.
Gabriel Viardot opened his own studio in Paris in 1860. His distinctive style was a free and personal interpretation of Chinese and Japanese furniture. In the course of the following four decades the firm won numerous awards including gold medals at The Paris Exposition of 1889 and The Universal Exhibition of 1900.
