The founders, Mia and Torben Koed, decided to put their 30 years of experience into a new project. It was time for a change and a new challenge. The challenge was to build an ambitious design brand from the ground up with high-quality materials and great attention to the little details. With a drive to create new originals, the WOUD collection is founded upon the idea to look ahead instead of looking back and share the love for honest design. Therefore, we are eager to discover and develop new ideas whether it being in form, function or choice of material.
Made by Michael is a Danish design studio founded by Michael Daae Christensen in 2014 with a strive to create simple design. He is an inquisitive talent with passion for the whole process of design - from sketch to final production. After he completed his Master in Furniture Design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Michael Christensen moved to New York to work at Søren Rose Studio - a city he still lives in Today. With the aim of carrying on the Scandinavian design traditions, Michael christensen designs timeless, characteristic and quality products. The characteristics of his design are great attention to functionality and simplicity with a special awareness of sustainability. As a part of his approach to sustainability, he explores different joint methods having a constant focus on manufacturing and packaging. Made by Michael strives to leave the viewer with a little moment of childish wonder and joy. The pure wood construction of his very first product launch, Töjbox, evokes these feelings. Without any screws, nails or glue, Michael’s true love for the wooden material becomes distinctly.
