Early 19th Century Country French Four Door Wardrobe

About the Item

Early 19th century country French four door wardrobe was designed to be a versatile storage piece perfect for the casual or rustic decor! Hand-crafted from dense, old-growth oak, it was assembled using pegged mortise & tenon joinery in the technique that was handed down for centuries from generation to generation. The tailored architecture features a rectilinear style, and only the upper door panels and the key guards depart from that dictate, with arched raised panels above, and contoured forged steel creating a visual accent on the keyguards above and below, as well as the drawers which are also fitted with ring pulls. Two steel barrel hinges hang each door, designed to last for centuries. Three raised panels appear on each side, with multi-tiered molding appearing above and below, with a more simplified version acting as a framework for the front facade. Doors and drawers open wide to reveal amazing storage, with one original shelf in each tier to keep things organized. One can easily see the evidences of meticulous hand-craftsmanship throughout the work, even on the inside and the back side, all indicative of the professionalism and dedication of the craftsmen. Even the steel hand-forged locks are original! Circa 1830s. Measures 78H x 58W x 29D.
