A French Louis XV period mid-18th century bonnet top walnut armoire from Nice, with ribbon-tied medallion and carved foliage. Handmade in Southern France during the reign of King Louis XV nicknamed the Bien-Aimé (the Beloved), this Niçoise walnut armoire features a "chapeau de gendarme" cornice sitting above a ribbon-tied medallion decorated with a delicate bouquet of flowers. Two doors, showcasing scrolling panels, open to reveal an inner shelf ideal for a flat screen TV. The armoire is raised on four legs, the front ones being scrolled and the hind ones straight. The ensemble is beautifully completed by a carved apron adorned with urn and foliage. With its graceful lines and skillfully hand carved décor, this Louis XV period walnut armoire circa 1740 will be a great addition to any bedroom or living room.
