French Country Armoire In Cherry, C. 1790

About the Item

An impressive Louis XV period “double bonnet” armoire in wild cherry from the Brittany region of France. The 2 doors are carved with inset panels and floral motifs. The double crown has a carved sunflower bouquet with stylized leaves between the two arches. The interior is fitted with wallpaper lining and 3 shelves and has interior lighting. It has a scalloped apron and cabriole feet. Excellent condition. Original hardware including lock and key.

    Repaired: Bottoms of the feet replaced as is common. The interior is recently lined with wallpaper and the 3 shelves at later replacements. Replacements made: Newer shelves. Wear consistent with age and use. Very nice condition for age and use.
