Silvio Cavatorta wardrobe in maple Italy 1958

About the Item

Exceptional wardrobe created by the renowned furniture designer Silvio Cavatorta in Italy 1958. This cabinet is made from beautiful maple wood with a glossy finish that gives it a polished and sophisticated appearance. The wood's natural tones seamlessly blend with any decor. The brass parts of the cabinet have aged gracefully, showcasing a charming patina that adds character. Functionality is a key feature of this wardrobe, as its large size provides amazing storage space. The left and right compartments of the wardrobe are separate from the middle part and are attached by a hanging structure. They are supported by an extra single leg in the middle. In the right compartment are three shelves and five drawers with nice detailed handles. The middle compartment consisting two doors, provides large hanging space with one wide drawer on the bottom. The two left compartments are also suited for hanging clothes with on the most left side a large hanging rack. The second and fifth doors both have large mirrors on the inside held by beautiful shaped elements. All doors have a vertically placed brass plate with a brass door handle and lock including a key. Silvio Cavatorta's craftsmanship shines through in this remarkable drawer cabinet, displaying his skill and creativity. Cavatorta is a family company that originated in Rome in 1869. They specialised in producing exclusive and customised furniture for prestigious clients such as embassies, hotels, schools, and ships. Silvio Cavatorta, son of the founder, expanded the company's reach by securing commissions from international organisations and ministries during the 1930s.

Italian sideboard, Silvio Cavatorta, 50s
By Silvio Cavatorta
Located in Milano, Lombardia
Silvio Cavatorta takes the reins of the Cavatorta Roman family business in the 1930s. The company produced its furniture in small and exclusive series and its main customers were embassies, hotels, schools and ships. Each furniture was uniquely designed for each specific commission. While most of the other well-known Italian designers in the second half of the twentieth century embraced the industrial methods of production and reproduction, the Cavatorta company remains true to its standards in the rejection of large industrial production and in favor of valuable materials and crafts. Thanks to unique commissions, the artisan and material production style of the family business and a cosmopolitan interest that goes beyond Italian design, Cavatorta furniture remains unique, rare and of the highest quality, both from an aesthetic and constructive point of view. The furnishings we offer in the catalog come from a prestigious Roman hotel from the 50s: armchairs, sideboard, bed and bedside tables...
