18th Century Lucchese Empire Walnut Round Table

About the Item

Fine round antique walnut table, 18th century, Italian manufacture. The table has a very complex base consisting of three large feet, connected to a single central stem. The feet are three dark lion's paws, very beautiful. These paws each connect to a sinuous wooden base, which connects to the central round base, from which the stem arises. The shaft is a fairly tall and sturdy cylinder, capable of supporting the large round top. The shaft is all grisled, very beautiful, very elegant sand colour. The thickness of the top is decorated again with the grissinato technique, very elegant with two opposing drawers, very useful. The drawers also have two simple brass locks. The top is round and very beautiful, with wear consistent with use and time. The wear is visible, but that is what makes it so delightful. On the base, on the other hand, we can clearly see the very nice wood grain. The table is suitable for large, eccentric rooms.
