Blue Painted Farmhouse Bench, c. 1900
About the Item
The painted exterior of this provincial farmhouse bench has weathered gradually from years of use to achieve the ultimate rustic finish. Once a vibrant, robin’s egg blue, the milk paint has softened with time to a subdued color and well-worn finish, revealing the natural wood grain beneath. The seat of the bench is crafted from a single plank of pine timber, burnished smooth from years of use for an inimitable aged texture. Set upon turned corner legs, the bench is constructed with visible joinery and the added support of flathead nails. With expansive scale and a solid build, the long bench is ideal today in a hallway, entry or mudroom.
