Developing a lifetime passion for 20th century modern design, Natasha Dakhli decided to start with ceramic after studying in Maison de la Céramique in Dieulefit. Quickly, she experimented with moulding and forged her artistic identity. Her body of work ranges from furniture and lightings to functional and decorative objects. At a crossroads between sculpture and design, her creations represent a renewed exploration of the visual vocabulary that characterized the aesthetics of the 50’s to the 70’s. The pieces recall in significant ways the iconic style of these decades yet are distinct, their creation having been informed by the contemporary context in which they are produced. Inspired particularly by architecture, this nuanced reexamination by Natasha Dakhli of such a fruitful period has yielded a unique body of work associating vertical rhythms, unstable balances of movements, making the link between nature and space.
